Meal Prep (mundane) Monday

It's time to step away from the normal meal prep. A lot of people will tell you that meal prep for the week is very important. Honestly it has helped me a lot both financially and around the waist. until a few weeks ago I hadn't really considered taking the time to prep food for myself for the whole week. I figured going to places like subway and eating healthy was the way to go. However let's be real for a second subway really isn't that healthy when you look at it. All those carbs in the bread and there's a lot of sugars too apparently.

So I finally decided to try and eat a little cleaner and prepare food to eat for lunch each day. so far it has worked out really great. I eat at home and then go to the gym. That actually gives my food time to settle and I don't feel as sluggish at the gym. The results and output I've seen in my workout have changed as well. On top of feeling better I've been able to save some cash as well. that's a big plus to cooking at home and prepping for the week.

They call it 'Meal Prep Monday' but it could be whatever day works for you. for me it seems to be Sunday. I get home from my day and I dedicate a big span of time to cooking/prepping. Depending on what you are making for your meals really depends on you. I like to cook all my chicken so it's ready to heat and eat as needed. I cheat a little by buying the minute rice individual cups solely for the fact it takes a minute to heat up. They make a variety of flavors including white rice, fried rice and my personal favorite multi grain medley. The calorie count varies from 150-300 on most. The multi grain medley had 260; not too bad for the amount of product you get. Depending on what your main entree is and how you cook it may vary your choice on what side you get to go along with it.

Plain chicken and rice is a go to but trust me it gets boring after a few days so I suggest you find some way to spice it up. Add veggies to your plate too or even add some seasoning to your chicken. I like to divide my chicken up and prepare different flavors that I can choice from through out the week. (my next blog will have my top choices for ways I like my chicken)

Don't let your Meal Prep become mundane. Find ways to spice it up that are within your dietary choices and have fun with it! you don't always have to have chicken. Fish and turkey are always good choices for protein. Fish being the better choice of the two.

Have fun with your Meal Prep Monday!
