Just STRETCH

Don't beat yourself up when you haven't met your goals yet. It's a process not the flip of a switch.
I remind myself daily that just because I'm still not where I want to be doesn't mean I'm not on the way there. I have my ups and downs like everyone else.
Honestly I haven't been as successful with meeting goals as I have been the last couple of months. I've let life get in the way. I've not given it all I have but I'm readjusting my goals. I think I've been setting them too high and not allowing myself to enough grace when I'm struggling to meet my goals.
So what have I got to do?
STRETCH
Sit back
Reevaluate
Train hard
Expect the best
Track my progress
Count calories
Have grace
A great definition I found for stretch says this "adjust or extend the scope of (something) in a way that exceeds a reasonable or acceptable limit." Now while that kind of is confusing I like what it says. To adjust or extend the scope of something... in this sense for me I feel like when we adjust our goals for the better we are stretching ourselves for the better. Sure we feel like the goal we set when we started still seems like it's miles away but by realizing we have to adjust or stretch our process we can meet those goals.
You may have said in January you were going to lose 20 pounds, heck you might have even said you wanted to lose 50 by the end of the year and here you sit the last few days of March and you've only lost 5-10 pounds or maybe you lost several pounds and you gained back a few; that's ok. It's ok because, guess what.... you still have nine months!! So in those nine months you have to continue to work. You may just have to look at your goals, look at your progress and READJUST to meet those goals.
What have you been doing that works; what doesn't work?
What foods do you find have weighed you down (for me its breads)?
What can you do to make healthier decisions (For me it's meal prepping)
Who can help keep you accountable? (Friends, family, you trainer, gym buddy, someone)
As corny as it sounds it'll help us meet our goals. Sure you may have to slow down and really focus on what's important.
What does STRETCH look like to you?
For me....
I've got to watch my eating habits for sure. I'm also going to work on upping my cardio. Lately I've only been doing 25-35 minutes. Not that that's a bad thing but for me I'm trying to burn more calories and fat while building lean muscle. I've set my goals to run outside more because free running is not as monotonous as running on a treadmill (as much as I love to people watch at the gym). I'm also going to write more on my blog and my facebook page. I'm also going to put a lot of effort in to beginning to do personal training. I feel like I'm at my best when I'm pushing others to work toward their goals as well!!!
So tell me, how are you going to STRETCH?
Let me know in the comments, tweet me, email me??
I want to hear from you!!!
